“There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still.” These words from Betsie Ten Boom are so encouraging to me, because we all fail at one point or another. Maybe that’s why the old hymnist wrote, “prone to wander, Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love.” You see, our love for God isn’t strong enough to keep us where we need to be, but praise God His love for you and me is strong enough to pull us out of the deepest pit we may have fallen into! Thank God for His love, because that same love can be like a fetter that binds our wandering heart to Him, so that we do not leave Him in the first place. Listen to the way the apostle Paul writes about this issue in Romans 8:38-39, “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” No matter where you find yourself this week, remember this one fact … His love is stronger!
