“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart . Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do god to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Ephesians 6:9-10

While on vacation last week it was wonderful to rest. It was nice to not have to meet any expectations, or to strive to hit any goals or marks. It makes sense that God ordained the Sabbath. Rest is good for the weary. It reminds me of a wonderful truth: God’s Word tells us that Jesus Christ is our Sabbath rest (Heb. 4:9). We don’t just get a day off or a vacation from striving, we get our whole life off from striving to be perfect in and of ourselves. He did the work for salvation, so we just do the resting in Him. No more struggling to hit an unreachable goal. God also shows us in Isaiah that God not only establishes our peace between Himself and us, but that all of our good works are done by God through us (Is. 26:12). The Bible also shows us that the Lord has prepared all of our work for us to “walk” in – not run or trudge or forece ourselves through (Eph. 2:10). He gives us a life of abiding and rest. Remember, its okay to be tired in ministry, but don’t get tired of ministry. Take a break and realize all the God has done so that you don’t have to. Selah
