Our Beliefs
In order to identify Calvary Mountain View as conservative in theology, and evangelical in spirit, we set forth this general statement of fundamental beliefs.
We Believe:That there is ONE LIVING AND TRUE GOD, eternally existing in three persons:
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.
We Believe:That the SCRIPTURES of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice.
We Believe:In GOD THE FATHER, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
We Believe:In JESUS CHRIST, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth.
We Believe:In the HOLY SPIRIT, Who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ; we believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit.
We Believe:That all PEOPLE are sinners by nature and choice and, therefore are under condemnation; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord; that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and power for service, often subsequent to regeneration.
We Believe:In the universal CHURCH, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.
We Believe:That the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ORDINANCES to the church: 1] Baptism, and 2] the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is by complete immersion and communion is open to all believers.
We Believe:Also in the Laying ON OF HANDS for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, for ordination of pastors, elders, and deacons, and for receiving gifts of the Spirit for healing.
We Believe:In the personal, visible RETURN OF CHRIST to earth and the establishment of his kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.

Our Vision
In August of 2003, my wife Vicki and I moved our family from Orange County, California to Utah Valley. 3 months later we started Provo Christian Fellowship which later became Calvary Mountain View Church. Our desire has been to show “love without compromise” as we share the wonderful truths of God’s Word to all who will hear. In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus said:
“Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, And I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, For I am gentle and lowly in heart, And you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
It seems that people have always thought they had to work their way to get to God, but the Bible says that God came to us and died for our sins (Isaiah 53:3-6, Luke 23:44-47, 2 Corinthians 5:20-21, Galatians 3:13-14) and rose again on the third day (Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, John 20). Jesus makes a promise that only He can fulfill because no one else can promise rest except the one who has finished the work for us (John 19:30). This is the simple message that God has given us to share with the people here in Utah Valley. Whether the burden is the weight of other people’s expectation, the weight of religiosity, or the weight of our own sin, God can take all our cares (1 Peter 5:7) and give each one of us rest.
Our desire is that Calvary Mountain View Church will be a place of rest. Where burdens will be laid aside and the grace of God will be poured out upon all who come to Jesus. On behalf of our church family, I would like to invite you to grow with us as we walk with Jesus as He teaches us all things concerning Himself.
“...Jesus Himself drew near and went with them … and beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself...” - Luke 24:15, 27
In the love of Jesus Christ,
-Pastor Joe McCormick
